Structurally Insulated Panels

So what exactly are SIPs?  According to the Structural Insulated Panel Association, "Structural insulated panels (SIPs) are high performance building panels used in floors, walls, and roofs for residential and light commercial buildings. The panels are typically made by sandwiching a core of rigid foam plastic insulation between two structural skins of oriented strand board (OSB).  SIPs are manufactured under factory controlled conditions and can be custom designed for each home. The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective. "

These new homes have no exterior stud walls! These OSB clad foam panels are structurally stronger and straighter than traditional 2x4 or 2x6 studs, and are superior to standard insulation. They have a higher R value, and are much tighter, meaning less of the outside air is flowing freely into your home.  The home is stronger, more moisture resistant, and more enegry efficient as a result of the SIPS construction.  The tighter construction keeps more of your expensive air conditioning in, the hot air out, and also keeps dust and pollens out.

Icynene Insulation

This high perfomance material is applied to the underside of your roof deck, and completely seals the building envelope in conjunction with the SIPS.  This ultra high performance insulation, which looks like a blanket of snow, completely seals the home envelope.  Traditional fiberglass batt insulation typically has holes and allows air drafts, simply due to the sheet stype of the insulation.  This expanding foam, leaves no holes, and no way for hot air to infiltrate in, or cold air out. This spray applied insulation also leads to improved indoor air quality as dust particulates cannot get in the home, effective moisture management, increased sound control, and maximum energy conservation.

Tankless Water Heaters

Traditional water heaters run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  That is a giant waste of energy and costs you money!  These homes have Seisco brand tankless waterheaters, standard.  The phone book sized heater runs only when you turn on the hot water at your sink or shower, instead of all day, saving you money each month on your electric bill.  As an added bonus, the tankless heaters provide countless gallons of hot water instantly.  When you purchase a new home at Cardenas Villas, you will ever run out of hot water again.

Metlund hot water recirculation pumps

These water pumps work in conjunction with the tankless water heaters, and deliver hot water almost instantly to your kitchen and master bathroom.  Press a small button on the wall, and the pump activates and pushes the hot water from the tankless water heater to your shower.  No more waiting 2 or 3 minutes for the water to get hot for your morning shower!  You will have hot water in a few seconds!  Factor in that speed, in conjuntion with the never ending supply of hot water from the tankless heater, and you have the perfect shower!  The on demand recirculation pump saves water, and electricity, helping to reduce the impact of the environment, and saving you money each month!

A large amount of the hot Arizona sun that penetrates buildings is through the glass windows.  We use only dual pane, low E vinyl windows in these new green homes.  Well insulated glass keeps the cold air in, and the hot AZ sun out.  This limits how hard your air conditioning equipment has to work, reducing electricity usuage and saving you money!

The sheet vinyl flooring commonly found in production homes releases harmful gasses over time.  These gasses can make you and your family sick merely by living in your home.  We aren't willing to risk your family, so we install tile in all the wet areas of your home (kitchen, laundry room, and restrooms) standard.
